In today’s world of internet when consumers searching for anything and everything online before a purchase and seeking opinions and feedbacks from friends and family it become essential for small businesses to have a vibrant and interactive social media strategy in place to engage with their customers and spread the message about their products and services.

The goals should address who all will be involved to achieve the goal, what is it the company wants to achieve, when is the timeframe to reach the goal end, where do you propose to implement it to achieve the goal, why do you want to achieve the goal and which are the requirements and constrains to achieve it when preparing the strategy to create more awareness; generate new sales and increase traffic to the website before implementing the strategy.

Social media strategy for small business works best when it is targeted on a specific audience. If you target too many groups you will end up with zero results or if you are trying to connect with more than one type of audience then you should implement separate strategy for each group.

Social media was primarily created as a social tool and not for businesses so it becomes imperative that you communicate with your audience on their terms. Since it’s a two way communication channel it’s an ideal platform for small business for their marketing and getting customer feedbacks.

Small businesses when implementing social media strategy should focus on the brand identity because consumers see the company through the brand. The strategy should be to reinforce the company brand and what it stands for.
