Though true that many video-enabled DSLRs may have possible 4:2:2 capability, fact is it’s a compromise not to include it to be able to compete at an affordable pricepoint. Plus, they can make more money doing more cameras using just one model than doing a specialized camera for different markets (remember, there’s a European protection tarriff for video cameras “to protect EU camera manufacturers.”)
it doesn’t have manual control for video !!! Such a BIG mistake by NIKON.
and then another mistake of the D7000 not having 25p.
what’s up with NIKON ???
I wanted to stay with Nikon, but i can’t wait any longer. After 20 years with Nikon, I am switching to CANON for sure !
@daxdigital The FS100 is over priced for what it is. I’m tired of this segregated market BS. 4:2:2 color space is easily possible on the next generation of DSLR’s… I don’t want to pay more for a over-sized clunky video camera when the technology is feasible in a smaller camera for less. Not to mention these “video cameras” aren’t exactly blowing anything out of the water… the first FS-100 shootout still showed the 5D with better highlight latitude. Not worth it in my book.
@Frontigenics that’s for a different market. High bit-rate with 4:2:2, go for Sony NEX-FS100.
@MsQwerty20092009 IT HAS MANUAL CONTROL. just not in a manner similar to Canon.
Banzai Nippon Kogaku!!! That was shot with a D5100. My camera wants to be one when it grows up. I’ve got a Nikon Coolpix P100 and I just love seeing pros scratch their heads wondering how I get what I get with a consumer camera. Look up my recent videos. Got more in the pipeline.
You could think it would be a good idea to post this video in 720 or 1020p? But then again, I´m not in the advertising business for new camera models… 😀
Higher bit-rate and 4:2:2 color-space… or I’m not buying.
it doesn’t have manual control for video fuck, Nikon, don’t make me to switch to Canon
Not even Nikon manages to pronounce Nikon properly :S
