Tips for Facebook Marketing

No matter where you look, you will find people who are on Facebook. They are all there for a variety of reasons – to keep up with each other, to play games or to promote their business. They may even be there for a combination of all the above. But if you have a business and you are not on Facebook, you are missing out on a lot of potential customers.

Current – One of the most important things that you need to remember with Facebook marketing, or any social media, is that you have to be current and present. People easily forget so you need to remind them that you exist. You can do this by posting status updates, items on your wall, pictures or anything else that is relevant.

Free Advertising – A Facebook account is free, which means it is free advertising for you to use the system. Set up a fanpage or a group for your business and go from there by adding everyone you know and having them recommend you to others. Once you have people in your group, there is a lot you can do.

Provide Information – This is a great method for you to get information about you and your product out to people. You never know which of your friends may be interested in what you have. If you already have a blog or website, you can have them setup to auto-post onto your Facebook, so you do not have to post everything manually.

Target your Audience – One of the great things about Facebook is that you can find others in a variety of ways. This includes by age, location or the schools that they attended. Depending on your product, this can be a goldmine to get you the audience you want. Introduce yourself when you are requesting friendship, most will accept your request as long as you are polite and they feel there is a reason for them to associate with you.

Be Involved – This is the same with any social media, you must be involved with the site to be successful. When someone posts something that you are able respond to, post a reply. If they post that their beloved pet died, you will want to post your condolences. Maybe they are looking for a great green widget, you could suggest that you sell such a thing and they should check them out at your website with a link. When you post this type of comment, do not be pushy!

Ask for Feedback – If you are utilizing a fanpage or a group, you can ask the people who are part of the group for their feedback. Ask them what they think of your product, for reviews, or what they would like to see. Offer a code just for Facebook fans if they give you the feedback you want, good or bad.

While there are other Facebook marketing tips out there, these are some basic ones to get you started and busy on Facebook. You may find it helpful to set an alarm once you head to Facebook, as many people find that it is a time sucker and before they know it, hours have passed.
