Are you tired of the people you have worked so hard to convince that they should join your business opportunity choosing not to because they found a tiny, insignificant reason not to? More often than not they are looking feverishly for a reason, relevant or not, so that they won’t have to join your business opportunity, right? What would it feel like to give all the people that have wasted your time what they have coming?
Well I think you should do it. There is a better way for you to build your network marketing business than trying to coax your family, friends, and acquaintances to join your business. Begging your prospects to join you shouldn’t be on the agenda – in fact, that makes an excellent point. You shouldn’t be asking people to join your business. Instead, they should be asked to team up with YOU. Your business as a network marketer is not to sell potions, lotions, or pills. What you should be selling is YOU. (At least, if you want to REALLY be successful as a network marketer this is how you will do it.)
Now, don’t get me wrong – the potions and lotions are what generate all the commissions you will earn, and you will have to move product to get paid, but if you are trying to build a long term business, that shouldn’t be your main focus. Your life span might not match up the way you would like it to with that of the company you are promoting. There is really no crystal ball that will tell you the future of any company in our industry (or any other for that matter). The beginning of your mlm career might overlap the tail end of your company’s. Not every company can or will be an Amway or a Mary Kay. Even with killer products, many network marketing companies won’t make it to the double digits in age.
If your only strategy is to promote a product, what will you do if the product you are pushing becomes extinct? Do you think they will give you a severance package? Do you think you will get unemployment benefits? Would you even want them? Hopefully your answer to all three of those questions was “no”. Now, there is nothing wrong with needing a little assistance at different times in your life. But can you honestly tell yourself that you’d like to take a free handout? If you could have a little insurance policy to cover your butt when something bad happens to your business, would you like that? Would you want to have to start back at zero and build another business from scratch? Breaking through the barrier in an MLM is no easy task. In fact, it’s downright hard. Losing everything you’ve built can knock your feet out from under you.
I know I would have a hard time rebuilding something that took so much energy without any guarantee of future income.
But there is hope… You can take out a little insurance policy on your network marketing business, and the beauty of it is that it is much more appealing to other people than traditional network marketing. Wouldn’t it be nice to collect from your “network marketing insurance policy” while everybody else is losing the farm? It’s surprisingly simple, and even easy if you have the right mindset. It’s simply a shift in where you place your focus – the activities that you do on a daily basis.
